Ali G (Sacha Baron Cohen) sees himself as hip and tough, a black gangsta who cruises the streets of East LA. In reality he is a skinny white kid living with his grandmother in upper middle class suburban Britain. He is the leader of a group of other wannabes that call themselves Da West Staines Massiv. Ali G spends his days doing drugs, hanging with his best mate Ricky C. (Martin Freeman), loving his girl 'Me Julie' (Kellie Bright) and plotting against the rival gang Da East Staines Massiv. All this changes when the local recreation center is closed. Ali G decides to protest so he goes on a hunger strike and chains himself to the iron railings. He draws the attention of the press as planned but also catches the eye of the nasty and ambitious Chancellor of the Exchequer David Carlton (Charles Dance). Ali G's cupidity induces Carlton to talk him into running for Parliament as part of a scheme to unseat the Prime Minister (Michael Gambon) by embarrassing him. However Ali G's campaign slogan catches on and as the symbol of youth and realness he is elected to Parliament and brings glory to the Prime Minister.
