Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielson) is a bumbling and clumsy Lieutenant in the Los Angeles Police Department. Frank returns home to Los Angeles from a vacation he was taking in Beirut and he discovers that his best friend and partner, Detective Nordberg (O. J. Simpson) was shot multiple times in an undercover sting. While Nordberg is in a coma in the hospital the investigation begins to lead Frank to a respected local businessman who is named Vincent Ludwig (Ricardo Montalban). Through his unusual investigation methods Frank meets and falls in love with an employee of Ludwig named Jane Spencer (Priscilla Presley). With her help Frank uncovers a plot by Ludwig to assassinate Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom, which he must attempt to stop.
