More than 10 years after their breakup, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel reunited to perform a free concert in New York’s Central Park on September 19, 1981. Over 500,000 fans turned out for the event which inspired an album, a video recording, and even a brief reunion tour. The film includes performances of such Simon and Garfunkel classics as “Mrs. Robinson,” “The Sound of Silence,” “Homeward Bound,” “Scarborough Fair,” “The Boxer,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “America” and “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard” along with some of Paul Simon’s own solo hits like “Slip Slidin’ Away,” “Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover” and “Late in the Evening.” The video also contains Paul Simon’s first-ever live performance of “The Late Great Johnny Ace” which was interrupted by a fan rushing on stage during the concert and was subsequently cut from the audio version of the show.
