In the 1950s the rise of Cadillac Records is filled with drama. When the poor owner Leonard Chess (Adrien Brody) of a south side Chicago bar hears Muddy Waters (Jeffrey Wright and Little Walter (Columbus Short) play their new kind of music, he is convinced that they can make it big. Chess hires a recording studio and produces the group’s first record. As he suspects, the record becomes a hit and Cadillac Records is born. As Chess discovers more talent such as Chuck Berry (Mos Def), he rewards all his stars with a new Cadillac. The climb to fame is not without it’s price though. Each and every one of these stars fights their own personal demons as well as the glamour of sex, drugs and booze. |
