Max (Clive Owen) is a playboy living during the Nazi regime. He is in love with a dancer named Rudy (Brian Webber). Wolf (Nikolaj Waldau) picks up Max in a gay men’s club. They are chased by the Nazis and then tortured while on the train bound for the Dachau concentration camp. Max meets Horst (Lothaire Bluteau) on the train; Horst has to wear a pink triangle which marks him as gay. Max decides to fake being a Jew and is forced to wear a yellow star. He falls in love with Horst in the camp, and they cannot be seen together making contact physically, but they still find ways to make love even in the face of doom and death.
