Homer (Tobey Maguire) is a smart young boy who grows up in an orphanage. He never gets adopted and is trying to accept the fact and deal with it. The orphanage director, Dr. Larch, is trying to teach Homer medical skills. Homer learns quickly and one day decides that he has got to see the world and leave the orphanage. His opportunity comes along when a pregnant couple, Wally (Paul Rudd) and Candy (Charlize Theron), come to see Dr. Larch for an abortion. Homer leaves with the couple and ends up working on their apple orchard. Soon after that, Wally heads out to war, leaving Candy and Homer behind. |
