Deep in the heart of the African Congo there exists a diamond mine with diamonds of such size and clarity that they would allow massive laser emitters to be built. A CEO has sent an expedition to gather these gems (allegedly for communication transmitters) but all contact was lost. As this group contained his son the CEO desperately wants to know what happened so he gathers a second team led by Dr. Karen Ross (Laura Linney). This team travels deep into the jungle where they are confronted by violence, greed, corruption and the dangers that stopped the first attempt. This group, at least, has some nice gadgetry and a trained gorilla to help them out.
