For Richer or Poorer (1997) is a comedy about a wealthy couple on the lam in Amish country. Brad Sexton (Tim Allen) and his wife Caroline (Kirstie Alley) have money and a luxurious home but they are miserable and at each others' throats. Unexpectedly, their accountant gets them into trouble with the IRS. The couple who cannot talk to each other without snarling suddenly has to work together to evade the IRS and find out the truth. They land in Amish country and pass themselves off as visiting relatives to a naive Amish family. The Sextons find themselves relegated to living simply, doing chores, and coping with each other. Can they manage Will they find love? Can they clear their names? Do they want to? The movie follows their adventures.
