Ingredients:
butter or oil for sautéing
1 med. onion, chopped (1 1/2 cup)
3 tsp minced garlic
2 tsp ginger
2 green chiles
1/4 tsp ground cloves
2 tsp coriander
1 1/2 cumin
1 tsp turmeric
4 cardamon pods
1 tbsp curry
1 carrot, minced
1 apple, minced
1 potato, minced
1 cup lentils
8 cups chicken broth
1 tbsp tamarind
1 tbsp tamarind
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 cups coconut milk
3 tbsp cilantro
1/2 cup rice, cooked per box instructions
2 to 3 cups browned shredded chicken (optional)

Method:
Sauté onion, garlic, chile in butter or oil. Liquify all ingredients except rice and chicken in blender.
Simmer soup with rice and chicken for 30 to 60 minutes.
