The story revolves around a group of friends as they get together after a long period of time. Actually they are together for a special cause the death of their special friend Alex (Kevin Costner). All the friends Sam Weber (Tom Berenger), Sarah Cooper (Glenn Close), Michael Gold (Jeff Goldblum), Nick Carlton (William Hurt), Harold Cooper (Kevin Kline), Meg Jones (Mary Kay Place), Chloe (Meg Tilly), Karen Bowens (JoBeth Williams), Richard Bowens (Don Galloway) are quite successful in their life. But the irony of fate is that inspite of the fact Alex being the best among the lot he was not as successful as his other friends who were quite average in front of him. This failure in life ultimately took Alex’s life. This sad occasion has brought them together and all of them are discussing about their past life and the thinking they had at that period of time and also the present in which they are living.
